Privacy Policy

Information we collect

We collect account details such as your name, email address and phone number; property and landlord application details; booking dates, messages and preferences; moving-service requests; and records of viewing credits and payment status. We also receive ordinary technical information needed to keep the service working and secure.

Property privacy

Public listings show marketable details such as a cover photo, approximate area, price, size, bedrooms, bathrooms, amenities, nearby facilities and property descriptions. Exact street addresses, access instructions and full photo galleries are protected. For rental listings, these details become available only to an eligible signed-in user after a viewing credit is used. A viewing can only be requested after that unlock.

How we use information

We use information to operate accounts, review landlord applications, publish listings, compare properties, process viewing unlocks, coordinate rental and stay bookings, support messages between the relevant parties, arrange moving quotes, send service notifications, prevent misuse and improve Appartment.

Payments

Viewing-pack payments are processed by Paystack. Appartment receives the payment reference, amount and payment status needed to issue credits and keep transaction records. We do not receive or store your full card number, CVV or online-banking credentials.

When information is shared

Booking and viewing details are shared only with the tenant or guest, the relevant landlord, host or mover, and authorised Appartment administrators. We use service providers for payment processing, maps and nearby-place information, hosting, storage and authentication. We do not sell personal information.

Location and nearby places

Before an unlock, location searches use only an approximate area and city to identify nearby malls, schools, healthcare, transport, rail and airports. Exact property coordinates or street addresses are not sent for this public nearby-place search.

Retention and security

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and meet legal or accounting duties. We use access controls and protected storage, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

Under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you may ask to access, correct or delete personal information, object to certain processing, or raise a concern, subject to records we must keep by law. Removing information may limit our ability to complete active bookings or provide account features.

Children

Appartment is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for rental, payment or booking services.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Appartment’s services or legal obligations change. The latest version and effective date will always appear on this page.
